Wacky Wednesdays

When I started my first job after college, I received quite the rude awakening to a working woman's schedule.  I was used to my college schedule, moving around every hour between classes, walking across campus, waving at friends passing by on the way to their own classes... Needless to say, it was a rough transition when suddenly I had to sit at a computer for nine hours straight.

Each week by about Wednesday I wondered if I was going to make it through the week without going crazy.  Some people call Wednesdays "hump day," but that name never appealed to me.  But there certainly is something to be said about making it through Wednesday and it being downhill from there!  So my coworker (hi, Mary!) and I coined the term "Wacky Wednesday" to describe our antsyness by the time Wednesday afternoon rolled around.  We were on the downhill to the weekend!  But not quite there...

This term came from a childhood favorite by Dr. Seuss--did you read that one growing up?  If not, the story is about a little boy who wakes up one Wednesday and finds that everything is out of whack, and readers get to count all the wacky things on each page.  ("It all began with that shoe on the wall.  A shoe on a wall?  Shouldn't be there at all!")

Well, I did eventually settle into my working schedule, but Mary and I continued to celebrate Wacky Wednesday most weeks, usually with a short afternoon break from work to goof off a little.

In my new job, Wednesday is the day of the week when I have the most meetings.  So by the end of the day, I certainly feel like I have climbed the top of the work-week mountain, and it must be down hill from here.  (I just need coworkers who want to celebrate with me!)

This afternoon after work, I finished my workout and got home at a decent time, with some daylight to spare.  I am loving how light it is in the evenings!  With a bit more light, I was able to snap a couple photos of the dessert Juanita and I made the other night.

Enjoying an evening on the patio and celebrating Wacky Wednesday:

Dessert before dinner?  Definitely a Wacky Wednesday :)
